Best purchase.

I have no complains for what it offers at this price rate. It works perfectly and the app is really good.

The only thing is that it uses 2.4 GHz wifi and my is is connected to 5 GHz. So I think it uses internet to transfer the command, causing a bit delay.
Also when the internet is down, it don't work. (Needs to change Wifi band).

The app has a home page widget to with quick buttons. But, it sometimes don't work an I need to open the app.

I mostly use Google home or assistant. I would like to see if most of the features can be accessed by third party app.

Overall this is value for money product.

Lights set go😊

It's a great device with full fledged functionality. This Device needs WIZ app for setup and it also has Alexa, Google and many more cloud integration option to control the device. The WIZ app has many modes of lightings and it also supports dimming and pulse chaser modes and the best thing is the light has power outage recovery mode so that you will never lose your settings even after power cut (when there is a power outage the light will turn off and when power is back the light will be turned off still whereas you will just need to switch on the light via wiz app and the light will turn on with last settings. Make sure to turn on power recovery mode on the wiz app)
You will need a router/hotspot to be switched on all the time to set this device and to have the device running, the light will pair with wifi and your phone will pair the light via your wifi (2.4ghz only). Once the setup is done you just need to keep the wifi on all the time and you can also control the light even by mobile data as the wiz app saves the settings on cloud.
If you have a room more than 120 sqft then I would suggest to go for 12watt version of this light.
Cons- white light is good whereas the colors are of bit low brightness ( specially the light shades and as it's RGB it is unable to make most shades in a perfect proportion but it's more than satisfactory. Yes but the dark shades are superb) than the white light whereas we cannot complain at this price point as it giving functionality and colors at this price range.
You can also set the light as an alarm with Google like to turn on the light at 5 a.m.
If you ask me for my views on this device I would highly recommend this device. It will surely not disappoint you and will brighten your mood.😇

Product works good so far

Bought two 9W and 12W Philips smart bulbs. It does the job as described. The wiz2 app is easy to use and the wifi 2.4Ghz pairing was easy. The brightness is however in the lower end and not comparable to regular 9w or 12w led bulbs. With the switch turned on and the bulb turned off in the app, the bulb automatically turns on and glows everytime after a power cut . You need to watch the app and turn off the bulb every time via the app which is quite frustrating. I wish there was a tweak or some memory effect in the app to stop the bulb from turning on everytime after a power failure. The mood lighting and presets in the app works well and I don't find myself using it a lot. One of the 12W bulbs wasn't getting detected by the app when I was away. It was greyed out in the app. When I got back to my home, I found the bulb was on and it connected to the app without any hiccups. Not quite sure what went wrong. Yet to see if the problem repeats in the future.

light dim and flicker on square wave inverter

on power outage light dim to 10% and start flickering when using square wave inverter, other 9w wiz led working properly even on square wave inverter. one more thing this work properly on sine wave inverter.

Fundamental Lighting Terms

Lumen (lm):

A lumen is the unit of luminous flux, representing the total amount of visible light emitted by a light source.

Efficacy (lm/W):

Efficacy measures how efficiently a lighting source converts electrical power (watts) into visible light (lumens). Higher efficacy indicates better performance. For example, LEDs can exceed 150 lm/W, whereas traditional incandescent lamps (GLS) offer around 10 lm/W, and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) about 60 lm/W.

Lux (lm/m²):

Lux is the unit of illuminance and indicates the amount of luminous flux distributed over a given area (lumens per square meter). Different applications require different lux levels; for instance, task-oriented areas such as kitchens or sewing stations demand higher lux values than general areas like corridors or lobbies.

Correlated Color Temperature (CCT, °K):

CCT describes the color appearance of a light source, expressed in degrees Kelvin (K). Light can range from warm (yellowish), to neutral (off-white), to cool (bluish white), depending on its temperature rating.

Color Rendering Index (CRI):

CRI measures the ability of a light source to render colors accurately compared to natural light. A high CRI (close to 100) indicates that objects appear more true to life, similar to how they would look under sunlight. A lower CRI may cause colors to appear distorted or unnatural.

Beam Angle:

Beam angle refers to the spread of light emitted from a source. A narrow beam (e.g., spotlights) provides focused illumination, ideal for highlighting specific features. A wider beam is better suited for general lighting, creating a more diffuse and ambient effect.

What is LED Lighting?

LED lighting refers to the use of Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) as a source of illumination. An LED is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current passes through it. Unlike traditional lighting technologies such as incandescent or fluorescent lamps, LEDs do not rely on filaments or gas discharge to produce light.

LED lighting is known for its high energy efficiency, long lifespan, durability, and low maintenance requirements. It is available in a wide range of color temperatures, intensities, and form factors, making it suitable for a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Benefits of LED Lighting

a. Energy Efficiency:

LEDs consume up to 50% less energy than CFLs, resulting in substantial energy savings and lower electricity bills.

b. Long Lifespan:

LED lights have an exceptionally long operational life, often exceeding 50,000 hours, which greatly reduces maintenance and replacement costs.

c. No Harmful Emissions:

LEDs do not emit ultraviolet (UV) or infrared (IR) radiation, making them safer for sensitive materials and human health.

d. Environmentally Friendly:

LEDs are free from hazardous substances such as mercury, making them a safer and more eco-friendly lighting option.

e. Versatile Color Options:

LED technology allows for the production of millions of color variations, enabling dynamic and customizable lighting solutions for various applications.

How LEDs life is defined?

Unlike conventional lamps that tend to fail suddenly, LEDs gradually depreciate in light output over time. The lifespan of an LED is typically defined by the point at which its luminous flux decreases to 70% of its original output—commonly referred to as L70. This gradual decline ensures more predictable performance and allows for timely maintenance or replacement planning.

8 hr daily operation : 17 yrs

12 hr daily operation : 11 yrs

24 hr daily operation : 05 yrs

Challenges with LED Lighting

LEDs are very sensitive to temperature & also produce a lot of heat during operation. This heat should be removed from system to maintain the junction temperature within prescribed limits.

LED are point sources so are prone to cause glare if the optics is not properly designed.

What is the role of heat sink?

Heat sink is required to dissipated heat generated by LEDs during operation. Since ambient temperature in India varies from – 5 0C to + 55 0C so the heat sink design should ensure effective thermal management under all circumstances. It should be made of high grade aluminum & should have no pores (like in gravity die cast heat sinks) providing resistance to heat flow. Garnet uses aluminum pressure die cast or extrusion heat sinks.
